During these 10 days and 9 nights, you will enjoy Morocco like never before. You will visit some of the most amazing places in Morocco, starting the tour from Tangier. First, you will visit Cape Spartel and Hercules Cave. Then, you will cross the Rif Mountains, stroll through the blue city of Chefchaouen, and explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis. After that, you will enjoy sightseeing in Fes and Meknes. You will also visit Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the Cedars Forest.
Furthermore, you will ride camels and enjoy the magical sunset and sunrise in the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. You will explore the Merzouga Sahara, walk through the magnificent Todra and Dades Gorges, and cross the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. The tour includes sightseeing in Marrakech and finally ends in Casablanca.
Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen
On the first day of your 10-day Morocco holiday from Tangier, we will pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, also known as “the bride of the north.” The city is located northwest where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel. First, we will explore the beautiful city and visit the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. After some free time for lunch, we will drive inland to Chefchaouen, passing through the city of Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, with stops for panoramic views. Finally, we will drop you off at your accommodation. Overnight stay in a hotel in Chefchaouen.
Day 2: Sightseeing in Chefchaouen, the Blue City
After breakfast, the 10-day Morocco holiday continues with exploring Chefchaouen, the Blue City, also known as Achaoun, which means “horns” in Berber. The city is located in the Rif Mountains in northwest Morocco and is famous for its buildings and alleyways painted in blue and white. First, we will stroll through its charming old Medina, which has many beautiful authentic blue doors. After some free time for lunch, you can hike to the Spanish Mosque, located on high ground, where you can see a spectacular view of the entire Blue City. Overnight stay in the same hotel.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Roman Ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast, feel free to wander through the beautiful alleyways of Chefchaouen. Then, we will drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, which is well-preserved and recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It features many beautiful mosaics, ancient pillars, and archways. After strolling through the ruins, we will drive 30 km to visit Meknes, the Ismaili capital, where we will see Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the Granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. We will then head to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.
Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Fes to explore the city. Fes is considered one of the imperial cities and is the cultural and religious center of Morocco.
We will start the day by visiting the Royal Palace gate, followed by the well-preserved medieval Medina, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, is the entrance to the old Medina. You will enter the Medina with a local guide to visit the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and finally the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world. After leaving the Medina, we will visit the Jewish quarter, “the Mellah,” and then drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the Medina and the city of Fes. We will then return to your riad.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, the 10-day Morocco holiday continues south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, known for its low temperature, snow, and alpine-style architecture, earning it the nickname “Switzerland of Morocco.” We will then continue to the Cedars Forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while wandering in the forest. Later, we will continue to Midelt for lunch. We will then drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we will reach the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, where you will switch to camels to cross the sandy desert, with a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset. We will then continue to the camp, which combines traditional nomad tents with the luxury of a hotel. Here, you can enjoy Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a vast open sky of stars. Accommodation will be provided in the camp.
Day 6: Explore Merzouga Region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga Lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove
After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring the region of Merzouga. The area boasts many incredible sites, from sand dunes and a wild lake to mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases, ideal for various outdoor activities. We start our journey in Merzouga by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we visit the nomads in their handmade woven tents and learn about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea.
Our next destination is Khamlia village, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing performances. The inhabitants of Khamlia originate from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After lunch in a restaurant, we will take a stroll through a palm grove and then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also called the Lake of Flamingos. Finally, we return to Merzouga for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 7: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Waking up early in the morning is a must to contemplate the beautiful sunrise. After breakfast, we will leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, which remains a major trading center in the region with a large souk that is lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After a stroll through Rissani souk, we will continue to Erfoud to visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble.
We will then drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains, creating high red cliff-sided walls, ideal for rock climbers. Feel free to wander through the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape. After lunch in a restaurant, we will continue to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades, with inevitable stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a spot atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 8: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After breakfast, we will continue our trip to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley, where a Rose Festival is held annually in May. Locals offer their rose products, including perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products. We will then drive through the palm groves of Skoura and visit the Kasbah of Amredhyle. We will reach Ouarzazate, where we will visit the studios where famous movies were shot and the Taourirt Kasbah.
We will then depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in many movies, including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV series like Game of Thrones. After that, we will visit the Telouet Kasbah. We will then continue to Marrakech by going through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains, with stops for lunch and to take pictures at interesting spots. Overnight stay in a riad in Marrakech.
Day 9: Guided Tour of Marrakech
After a warm breakfast, we will explore the highlights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of the imperial cities in Morocco. The visit includes the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque. We will stroll through the largest traditional souk in Morocco and have free time for lunch near Jemaa El-Fna square. Later, we will visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in Marrakech, and the Majorelle Garden. We will then transfer you to your accommodation. Feel free to wander through Jemaa El-Fna square on your own.
Day 10: Casablanca Airport
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. Depending on your flight time, we will drive to Casablanca and possibly visit the Hassan II Mosque if time permits. We will then drop you off at the airport, marking the end of your 10-day Morocco holiday from Tangier.
